Best QR Code Generators with Analytics in 2026

Most QR code generators will happily let you create a code. Very few will tell you if anyone actually scanned it. And that is the whole point, right? If you are putting QR codes on packaging, menus, flyers, or business cards, you need to know whether they are working or just taking up space.

So I compared the most popular QR code generators side by side, specifically looking at analytics. Here is what I found.

What "analytics" actually means for QR codes

Before we get into the tools, let's talk about what good QR code analytics looks like. At a minimum, you want to see total scan count, unique versus repeat scans, the device type (iPhone vs Android), the city or country the scan came from, and the date and time.

Some tools go further and show you browser type, operating system version, or let you export data to CSV. But for most businesses, the basics above are what matter. You want to answer one question: is this QR code getting scanned, and by who?

The comparison

I looked at five popular options and compared them on the things that actually matter when you need analytics.

Tool Free Analytics Dynamic Codes Watermark on Free Paid Starting Price
AQRHub Yes (scans, location, device) Yes, free Yes (small footer) $9/mo
QR Code Generator No (paid only) Paid only Yes $7/mo
Beaconstac 14-day trial only Paid only Yes $5/mo
Bitly Limited (click counts) Yes, limited No $8/mo
Canva No No No Free (static only)

The breakdown

AQRHub is the only one on this list that gives you real analytics on the free plan. You get scan counts, device breakdowns, and location data without paying anything. Free plan includes a small watermark. Paid plans remove it. The paid plans add more codes and features, but the free tier is genuinely useful on its own. Full disclosure: this is our product, so take that into account. But the comparison above speaks for itself.

QR Code Generator (qr-code-generator.com) is a well known name, but analytics are locked behind the paid plan. Free codes are static only and come with a watermark, which looks unprofessional on printed materials. The paid version is solid if you are willing to pay from day one.

Beaconstac offers a strong dashboard with detailed analytics, but there is no real free plan. You get a 14-day trial, then everything is paywalled. Good for larger companies with a budget, but not great if you want to test things out first.

Bitly is primarily a link shortener, but it added QR code generation. Free accounts get basic click counts, but the analytics are not as detailed as dedicated QR code tools. You will not get location or device data without upgrading. It works fine if you already use Bitly for link tracking and want everything in one place.

Canva can generate QR codes inside its design tool, which is handy for creating print materials. But the codes are static only. No tracking, no editing after creation, no analytics at all. Great for design, not for tracking.

How to get the most out of your QR code analytics

Creating the code is step one. Here is how to actually use the data you collect.

Compare placements. Create separate QR codes for different locations. One for your business card, one for your storefront, one for your packaging. Then check which one gets the most scans. Now you know where your audience actually engages.

Track by time. Are people scanning your codes on weekdays or weekends? Morning or evening? This tells you when your audience is active and helps you plan campaigns around those windows.

Combine with UTM parameters. Add UTM tags to your destination URLs so the traffic shows up in Google Analytics too. Your QR code dashboard tells you who scanned. Google Analytics tells you what they did after they landed. Together you get the full picture.

Which one should you pick?

If you need analytics and do not want to pay right away, AQRHub is the clear choice. You get dynamic codes, scan tracking, and no watermark on the free plan. If you outgrow the free tier, the paid plans are straightforward.

If you already pay for Bitly, adding QR codes there keeps things simple. If design is your priority and tracking does not matter, Canva works fine for static codes.

But if tracking matters to you at all, skip the static-only tools. A QR code without analytics is just a fancy barcode.
