Common questions

Does a WiFi QR code work on all phones?

It works on iOS 11 and newer and Android 9 and newer using the built-in camera. Older phones can use any free QR reader app.

Is it safe to share my WiFi password via QR code?

The password is encoded in the QR code itself. Anyone who scans or photographs the code can join your network. For public-facing venues, use a separate guest network with its own password.

Can I update the password without reprinting?

Not with a standard WiFi QR code, because the password is embedded in the pattern. If you need to update it often, create a dynamic Link QR code pointing to a WiFi connection page instead.

What size should I print the QR code?

At least 2cm by 2cm for reliable scanning. For wall signs, 10 to 15cm works well. The SVG download scales to any size without losing quality.
