This is a question worth asking before you print 500 flyers.
Static QR codes last forever
A static QR code encodes the destination directly in the pattern. As long as the destination URL still works, the code works. There is no expiration.
The risk with static codes is not the code itself dying. It is the destination changing or going down. If you encoded a link to a page that no longer exists, the code will scan, but lead nowhere.
Dynamic QR codes depend on the platform
A dynamic QR code points to a redirect URL that the platform manages. As long as that redirect is active, the code works.
This means the code remains valid as long as your account on that platform remains active. If the platform shuts down, you cancel your account, or it changes how its redirects work, your codes could stop working.
What this means for you
For something you print once and use for a few weeks, almost any platform works fine.
For something you are printing in large quantities and plan to use for years, be thoughtful about the platform you use. Use a platform that is established and that you plan to stick with.
AQRHub and link longevity
QR codes created on AQRHub will work as long as your account is active. Free accounts stay active. There is no automatic deletion.
The practical answer
A well-made dynamic QR code on a stable platform will last for years with no issues. The things that kill QR codes are changes to the destination URL, platform shutdowns, or physical print damage.
